Layton has become a renowned detective worldwide. In London everyone is identified, although making use of their innate ability, with a little left of his assistant, Luke, is able to pass unnoticed. Life goes on with some normal until one fine day a mysterious letter in his mailbox, dated no more and no less than five years in the future. To make matters worse, signing an adult Luke who says live in the future. How is it possible? Did the rumors are pointing to the effectiveness of a new instrument that allows time travel? Layton and Luke set sail for his third adventure on the Nintendo DS on the way to uncover the mystery behind the lost future.
