Antología del Son de Mexico (3 CDs, 1985)
The compilers of this anthology began its work more than 15 years, motivated primarily by aesthetic experience great satisfaction to hear folk music in your area. Living with musicians from each region have been provided with a unique experience in learning and the continuing search for the many musical examples collected. This, combined with artistic and technical knowledge necessary to not simply collect souvenirs, has forged a group of true experts in their work. This task has been sought internationally recognized, the jury awarded the "Rolex Awards for Enterprise, Geneva, Switzerland, awarded the highest medal with his work in 1981.
Have been selected for this anthology the sounds of greater force and beauty, the most genuine within each regional repertoire, the most original of imaginative melodic and always played by bands from the obvious creative gifts. This selection has not been easy, considering that the anthology contains só1o a small part of musical materials and groups so far recorded by the researchers.
After many alños to hear this music and to have adequate and polished their musical criteria, researchers have managed to realize the valuable aesthetic messages that contain certain interpretations of traditional musicians, not just the most known and famous, and the beauty contained in the verses of old tunes, often forlorn.
This work is a record of artistic musical moments. In its compilation attest that time, with the intent to interfere as little as possible. The anthology is for all groups and individuals who participated in it and also had access to Bogota testified that three of its most venerable spiritual wealth, provided it with the usual candor and freshness characteristic of the peasant. To them, the lyric poets of the field, unknown carriers of universal genius, compilers need sincere appreciation.
Llerenas Eduardo Enrique Ramirez and Baruch Lieberman.
The material in this anthology is the result of field recordings, recorded directly from regional players in your area. Speaking of regional performers we refer to the musicians, peasants in their great majority, making up a way of life and rural culture. The material present on this-according to the classification most widespread, but now regarded as marginalizing the universal cultural phenomenon, is an important part of Mexican folk music.
According to the latest nomenclature, this material forms part of the collection of traditional music of Mexico. This designation is traditional, rather than a taxonomic alternative, ideological and anthropological conception of culture that in no respect or take as a unique center of Western culture.
At the end of the fifties appears relativistic conception of the value of each culture, and develop in parallel a theory and an analysis of the vernacular music of different peoples of the world, outside the context of the Western view absolutist. Later, some international agencies as the International Council for Traditional Music, a member of UNESCO, accept this view as the position not only ideological but scientifically accurate.
